Bye, Bye for now, Honey!

My mom had to go home today after spending the last 3 weeks here with us. I can't even begin to describe how much Bobby and I appreciated the time she spent here and all of the care she took of us, the girls and the house! I never imagined how much we would need her here. I only wish those weeks hadn't gone so fast! I am so lucky to have her as my mom and I hope the girls one day feel the same for me! I can only hope to be half the mother that she is! Thank you Mom for all that you have done, and all that I know you will continue to do. You are a great role model! We love you!

The Smith's visit

Saturday some of our greatest friends came to visit. Ben, Jennifer and Adriana made the trip from Houma to spend the afternoon with us. Ana absolutely loved the babies. She must have said "Hi, baby" about a thousand times. It was too cute. The weather was beautiful so we decided to pack the girls up and take them for a stroll outside in the "ladies train", as Bobby calls it. Ana wanted to help and push the stroller like a big girl. She's gonna be a GREAT big sister, hint hint!

Thursday we packed the girls up and took them to the doctor for their first checkup. We had a rough night the night before but we managed to get ourselves together and out of the door in time. Since the girls screamed the whole ride home from the hospital, we were leary of what this ride could turn into. They slept the entire time and were angels at the office. Both of the girls are within 2-3 ounces of their birth weight, so the doctor was pleased. We are so blessed to have had full term, healthy twins.

Rub a dub dub

The girls got their first "bath" on Saturday. Neither of them really appreciated the wipe down. They are not big fans of being uncovered. However, once we started washing their hair, both seemed to really love it. Bobby watched this time but when we "bathed" again on Monday, he took his turn with Payton. She was satisfied with his care! We are having so much fun and are still in awe that God chose us to be their parents!

Our day has finally come!

Well, our life has just changed...in the best way possible! Our little love bugs were finally welcomed into this world on April 6th. I had a scheduled section, so things went pretty smoothly. No labor to worry about, no rushing to the hospital. Payton Claire was born at 11:56 weighing 7 pounds and was 19 and 3/4 inches. Two minutes later her sister, Parker Elizabeth, came into the world at 11:58 weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 18 and 1/4 inches. Yes, I had over 14 pounds of baby packed into that big belly of mine. Both girls cried right away, which was just music to our ears. Everyone was amazed at all the hair the girls had, but it would make perfect sense to everyone if they saw Bobby and my baby pictures. Once they made sure the girls were okay, they were wisked away to the nursery. It would be another 4 hours before I would get my hands on them, but a moment well worth the wait. Bobby and I are in pure amazement over our girls. Everyone said that once they were born, we wouldn't know how we ever lived without them. I never understood that statement until the moment we saw them for the first time. We are looking forward to getting adjusted to a very new, very different and very awesome life!

Practice makes perfect?

That's what they say! And we are about to get alot of practice! I have to take the time to give some praise to Bobby! I met Bobby when he was 18 and I was 20. Needless to say, we have been through lots of stages together. This phase in our lives has been the most rewarding, though, to spend together. I think alot of men who have never really taken care of a baby would be daunted to have one, much less 2! Bobby has been so excited since we found out about the twins. He has been so open to learning all he can. It makes me realize how wonderful of a father he is going to be. Our girls don't even know how lucky they are!
I have been around kids and babies all of my life but Bobby hasn't. So I asked him if he wanted me to show him some baby basics. He was more than willing to learn. These are some pics of diaper practice. I also showed him infant CPR and choking rescue. He made an A+. I did give him fair warning that it's different with a squirming, crying baby but that will just be trial by fire! Ready or not...here they come!
